

A stake to mark the old style subsidence monument at the west end of Penobsquis Loop Road.
Subsidence Monitoring is done by the University of New Brunswick Geodesy Department for PotashCorp Mine since 1987.
New Subsidence Monitors are also in place as of 2006.
Original Mine Subsidence over workings was predicted, by UNB, at 35 cm and has been proven by UNB. They say an area of secondary subsidence is taking place due to draining of an aquifer hypothesized as being less than 150m from the surface.
Penobsquis is a small community in southern New Brunswick within the Parish of Cardwell. The population of Cardwell was 1,382 in the 2001 census.
